School Summary
Mitchell is located in north Dallas, south of West Plano. Mitchell just improved to a ‘B’ in 2018-’19 after earning rankings of ‘C+’ and ‘B-’ from Plano School Reviews for the three prior years. The mobility rate (% of students enrolling and withdrawing each school year) is quite high at 19.2%, which could lead to some disruption in continuity for teachers and students alike. The % of STAAR scores that showed mastery of grade-level content (far exceeding basic state standards) has improved at Mitchell for each of the last 4 years: 24%; 28%; 29%; 34%. Mitchell is one of PISD’s larger elementary schools with an average of just over 110 students in each grade, and it feeds into Frankford Middle School, Shepton High, and Plano West Senior High.
